Dear NCSY GIVE Parents,

We're so excited to be spending our second shabbos together here on NCSY GIVE. It's been an awesome week this week, filled with fun, learning and of course, growth.

We began our week with Medical Clowning training, where we learned to be professional medical clowns. We then packed up our bags and headed to Alonai HaBashan, a place with the most beautiful views imaginable, and suprisingly chilly air for summer in Israel. That night we played a huge game of Human Pacman, which was awesome. Monday we went to a team building activity on the Kinneret where we built rafts and had to float on them! We then wrote letters to soldiers, stopped at a grocery store to buy snacks to hand out to the soldiers and then went to an army base to deliver our gifts and notes! The soldiers were SO appreciative and grateful for our time and thoughts, and we were just as excited to meet real live SOLDIERS!!  Tuesday, the 17th of Tammuz, was a meaningful day for the girls. We had introduced a program called GIVE4Teens, where we empowered the GIVErs to come up with chessed projects they would like to bring back to their home communities. The ideas were beyond awesome! We're pretty sure that our GIVErs are going to change the world... Just saying.

Later that day we heard from a local resident of Alonai HaBashan who lost her son in a terrorist attack in Otniel. Her strength inspired us. Wednesday we headed to an Ethiopian Absorption Center in Meron where we did art projects with the precious little kindergarteners you've ever seen! From there we had an awesome hike and then davened mincha at the grave of Rebbi Shimon Bar Yochai. That night we played a hilarious game of Panic, which everyone enjoyed! Thursday was a jam packed day that began with a visit from NCSY Associate Director, Keevy Fried, who joined us on our visit to the Gush Katif Museum of the North.

We then had the merit of planting trees in the holy land of Israel, leaving a lasting mark for our future generations to hopefully benefit from in the future. We davened mincha at the grave of Rebbi Meir Baal HaNeis (so many holy people buried in the north!) and then ended the evening with a rockin' night activity of zumba, led by two of our Chicago GIVErs and mishmar, by our GIVE Rabbi, Rabbi Felberman. Today began with a visit the DeKarina chocolate factory, where we learned about chocolate, made chocolate and ate a ton of chocolate. Yum. We're now in Tzfat, heard from a cool Kabalistic artist and had some time to shop. We love supporting the Israeli economy :)

May Hashem guard and protect our soldiers this Shabbat as they endeavor to keep our land and our people safe from terror and danger.

Wishing you and yours a Shabbat truly of SHALOM!

Erin and the NCSY GIVE family
