NCSY GIVE Color War!

Nefesh B’Nefesh

Vashavu Banim L’gvulam!

Waking up at 5:15 was well worth the incredible experience we had in greeting the Olim Chadashim. The energy and happiness was palpable and we greeted the olim with signs, songs, and warm embraces. Many of us had personal connections to the olim making aliya on this flight, and felt extra excited to participate in this momentous occasion. We danced and sang one of our very own advisors from GIVE 12- Raimi Tuchinsky into her new home in Israel.

We had an inspiring and uplifting morning followed by chesed, and a delicious dinner at Papagaios. May we all live the words of Yermiyahu and: V’shavu Banim L’Gvulam.

NCSY GIVE GREETS A NEFESH B’NEFESH FLIGHT!

Nefesh B’Nefesh Here we come!

Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to welcome a Nefesh B’Nefesh flight.

To prepare us for this moving experience, we had a program tonight called “Israel: Our Home.” We learned about the significance of having our own home and how many people throughout our history were willing to give their lives for the sake of living in a Jewish home.

After watching an emotional video from Nefesh B’Nefesh we were ready to make our signs to greet the new olim.

We are so excited to be a part of such a special moment for all the new Olim that will be arriving bright and early tomorrow morning!

Kayaking Adventures and a Special Surprise!

Today we had a day of fun up north. Our first stop was rafting, where we all started out dry but ended up completely soaked. Our adventures of splashing, swimming, and enjoying good times with friends was definitely memorable!

After a delicious pizza lunch (with all sorts of fun toppings!), we made our way to the Naot Factory to buy our favorite Israeli sandals.

Our last stop was a very sweet treat! We went to the De Karina Chocolatier, where we learned how this delicious hand made chocolate is made. The best part was when we had the opportunity to create our own chocolaty creations!

Tomorrow we will begin our week of electives, where each GIVEr has the chance to spend a few hours for the next 3 days at the same chesed organization. This allows each GIVEr to build a relationship with the people and their particular chesed.

We had an incredible weekend and we’re looking forward to begin our week of electives!

NCSY GIVE 2013 Staff!

Shabbos in Tzfas!

Shabbos in Tzfat was a special experience. We welcomed in the Shabbos by singing Kabbalat Shabbat in a cave. It was a different way of welcoming Shabbos, althought it was dark we were able to welcome Shabbos with our full amount of energy. Shabbos day we had the opportunity to do a walking tour of the city and learn all about the history of the city. We went to the Breslov Chassidish shul for Mincha, it was an amazing experience. We got to see the way their sects of Judaism daven. We also went to the house of the writer of the Shulchan Aruch, Yoseph Karro. It was like seeing history come to life. We went back to the hotel to say goodbye to Shabbos. This week we extended Shabbos for 45 minutes! I can’t wait for another amazing week on GIVE!
