Summer 2014

Staff Highlight: Erin Stiebel, Director

Hi! I’m Erin Stiebel and I’m super psyched for yet another awesome summer on NCSY GIVE! This will be my 10th summer working for NCSY Summer Programs and my 6th summer serving as the Director of GIVE. Woah. Time flies when you’re trying to bring back the fanny pack!

I’m originally from Silver Spring, MD, but spent several years in NY while attending Stern College and pursuing my Masters in Business and Jewish Education. I recently relocated to Detroit, MI, where I live with my husband David, who was the first official male member of the NCSY GIVE family, and our delicious little boy, Alexander, both of whom will be joining us this summer! We are the proud owners of a hot pink Hello Kitty microwave and a car that is older than most of you. I am always overcome with emotion when we greet a Nefesh B’Nefesh flight, welcoming home all of those brave, dedicated and admirable individuals, choosing to build and raise their families in our homeland.

Can’t wait to meet everyone and begin another summer of inspiration, perspiration and an insanely awesome obsession with Hashem!

Cooper, Erin 2

Borenstein, Miriam

Staff Spotlight: Margot Reinstein, Bus Head

My name is Margot Reinstein, and I love to rhyme – to laugh and to sing, all of the time. I grew up in Teaneck, and wanted to expand – so I moved for the year, to the holy land! Pursuing a masters in Jewish Ed at Hebrew U –  I’m a madricha at Midreshet Lindenbaum too. I like playing harmonica and dressing in costume – without bubbles to blow, I never leave my room. My favorite place in Israel? Don’t know if I can choose just one spot – One place though I love, is the art gallery in Tzfat! I’ll be joining the faculty at Kushner next year  – and can’t wait for the summer to GIVE and volunteer!

Letter From Future Giver

Staff Spotlight: Zahava Moskowitz

Hey guys! My name is Zahava Moskowitz and I’m going to GIVE you a little info about myself (get it?)
Growing up, I lived in Great Neck but moved a few years ago to West Hempstead. I went to Central for High school (woot woot!), MMY (yes, we will marry any guy) for seminary, and now in Queens College. Fun facts about myself: I LOVE corny jokes, the color purple, and camel rides! (Although my picture doesn’t do it justice). I’m so excited for GIVE to start and cannot wait to spend a summer with all of you! See you in the Holy Land!

Staff Spotlight: Amy Weiss

Hi! My name’s Amy Weiss and I’m from Miami, Florida. I grew up in New Jersey until I was 13, and maintain my accent while at Stern College. At Stern, I’m a major in Political Science and play for the tennis team. Alon Moreh is one of my favorite places in Israel because it is exactly the spot where Hashem commanded Avraham: “lech lecha.” On Parshas Lech Lecha, I joined the community in its shabbaton dedicated to the monumental moment in history that took place there. It is a town of people deeply committed to fulfilling the promise that Eretz Yisroel, in its entirety, will belong to the Jews. I have not been back to Israel since my seminary year, and I’m so grateful to return on a program as awesome as GIVE! I can’t wait to meet all of our GIVErs!

Staff Spotlight: Zisse Hanfling, Head of Social Media

Hey Incoming Givers!

My name is Zisse Hanfling and this is my third summer on GIVE! I went as a camper in 2010, and staffed GIVE last year in 2013. I went to Ma’ayont for high school, MMY for seminary, and now attending Queens College. I work in Central East NCSY, BIG EAST REPRESENT, during the year but, I’m so excited to meet all of you from all over the country. I will be working all the social media this summer, so when I say “Cheese” don’t forget to smile for the blog, so that your parents can see you having the Best.Summer.Ever. One of my favorite activities on GIVE is the sunrise hike on Masada, can’t wait to race you up to the top! See you at the airport!
